The Core Storyline
Pitfall is a brutal, high-tension survival horror film that masterfully blends the isolated, wilderness paranoia of The Ritual with the relentless pacing of classic outdoor slashers. The story centers on a tight-knit group of friends—including Scott (Marshall Williams), Ashley (Alex Essoe), and Lars (Richard Harmon)—who head deep into a remote forest for what is supposed to be a peaceful camping getaway to heal from a recent family tragedy.
The trip takes a terrifying turn when Scott gets separated from the group and plummets into a hidden, 10-foot-deep hunting pit lined with jagged spikes, leaving him horribly impaled through the leg and completely trapped. As his friends frantically scramble through the dense woods to locate him, they make a chilling realization: the trap was no accident. They are being systematically stalked by an unnamed, psychopathic hunter (played by MMA legend Randy Couture) who uses bows, axes, and a lethal array of camouflage traps to turn the forest into a massive killing floor. Splitting its narrative between Scott’s agonizing struggle to survive at the bottom of the pit and his friends' desperate, frantic fight to outsmart a seasoned predator, the film delivers a gripping, claustrophobic, and intensely gory ride that horror fans will love.
