The story centers on Pallavi Kharti (Sunita Mani), a 29-year-old aspiring writer living an independent life in New Orleans. Back home in Delhi, her fiercely protective and highly superstitious mother, Usha (Sarita Choudhury), constantly worries about Pallavi's single status and aggressively tries to set her up on traditional arranged dates. The constant mother-daughter telephone friction takes a massive turn when Pallavi randomly meets Sandeep (Omar Maskati), a handsome, remarkably wealthy, and seemingly perfect Indian-American entrepreneur. While Pallavi is completely swept off her feet, Usha’s initial excitement quickly devolves into an intense, paralyzing dread as she learns more about the relationship.
